Collectible Hunting Knives

Buying collectible knives is really not very hard. There is a lot of information about knife makers in books and on the internet. The hard part is finding people willing to sell their collectible knives.

There was an auction I attended not long ago that had collectible knives on the auction block. There was a fixed blade vintage knife made by W.Scagel from Von Lengerke & Antoine. The knife had a leather handle and the sheath was beautifully tooled.

I found nicer fixed blade collectible knives at another auction I attended the very next weekend. I purchased a vintage Harry Morseth with a beautiful stag handle. This beautiful knife sold for $750.

One of the knives that I did not win at that auction was a vintage Gladstone knife with a really great sheath that looked like deer hide. I wanted that knife pretty badly, but when the bidding went over $600, I had to bail out.

I buy my dad collectible knives that I think that he’d like. I found one not long ago that was from the 1940’s and it was an actual Hoyt Buck with the Buck stamp on the Lucite handle.

The blade was extremely sharp and my dad loved it.

I found Kinfolks double knives set at a local pawn shop. I went in to see what they had in the store for sale and was bowled over that they had these two great knives. The shop owner was asking an even $100 for the set and I paid him on the spot.

Those knives that I bought at the pawn shop were resold by me on eBay. I started the bidding at $150 and six different people bid on it. The knife set auction closed at $350. I sure am glad I went into that pawnshop!
